Make sure:

  • You are using Python 3.5 or higher! Anything submitted in 2.x will receive 0 credit.
  • You can access MITx (have personal certificates installed on the computer you will be using).
  • You only have the MITx webpage open and an IDE to debug your code. No notes, books, scrap paper, or webpages.
  • Your computer and internet will last for 2 hours.
  • You understand the mechanics of submitting the test on MITx.
    - You will not see your final score on any of the questions.
    - Green check marks or scores on the system mean nothing.
    - If your code does not run (throws an error), you will receive a zero on that question.
    - The sample tests on MITx show the test cases and score -- the actual ASE exam WILL NOT GIVE ANY INDICATION OF YOUR SCORE
  • No other materials are allowed besides the MITx window and an IDE. No books, notes, webpages, etc. You may have a local IDE open where you can write and debug code, but you must Submit your final answers on MITx.

The 6.100A (6.0001) Advanced Standing Examination will be held online on MITx. Students must bring their laptops and power cables and must have MIT certificates installed to access the exam. See the MIT IST website for details on how to do this. During the exam, you are only allowed to access your Python IDE and the MITx website. You should not have any other programs open during the exam and you are not allowed to use any study aids. The exam will be in Python 3.5. Anything submitted in Python 2.7 will receive 0 credit.

Register for this course to have access to the application form and study materials. If you want to take the examination, you must submit the application form by the deadline. We highly recommend that you become familiar with the MITx website and how to submit an online exam before then.

We are making available the course materials of 6.0001. This includes lecture videos, short exercises, and two exams. The lectures closely follow this textbook: Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python, Second Edition by John V. Guttag, Chapters 1 to 10.
